ENTRY TO GAMES STARTS HERE
Explore ENTRY-LVL and its mission to help the games industry.
FIRST, WHAT LEVEL ARE YOU?
LEVEL 0
EGG
I’m brand new to games! I’ve never worked in a similar field or built a game. But my passion is there!
LEVEL I
WYRMLING
I’ve done some hobby games stuff, and am actively seeking industry work. I'd consider myself brand new to the industry space.
LEVEL II
DRAKE
I'm laid off or switching careers. I’ve got the know-how, and I’m looking to spread my wings.
EGG
Everyone has to start somewhere, and the games industry can often make it hard to find out exactly where to go. Passion in creative fields can go a long way, but knowing the industry, refining skills, and preparing a solid foundation is what gets you across the finish line. In the Egg section of our resources, we teach you the beginning from the ground up. What does a games industry resume look like? Where should I be uploading my portfolio? What’s the name of the career title I’m hoping to pursue? There are so many questions that can seem like steep mountains for beginners, and we’re here to help you hatch.
WYRMLING
Wyrmlings are the foundation of the game industry’s future. It’s also in this awkward stage of growth that it’s so difficult to find jobs. You’re considered “Junior” or “Entry” level, which could mean anything from 0-4 years of industry experience. Within the Wyrmling resources, we break down the basics. Learn what specific roles’ portfolios look like, and where to level up your abilities to stand out from a crowd. Learn to connect with indie studios and teams, and how networking is the king of the world; even when you’re just a wyrmling. You’re the lifeblood of the community, supporting both old and new levels of the industry, and we need to sustain that.
DRAKE
This is where you may be sitting in an odd sort of limbo. You’ve got the resume, and maybe you’ve even made games before! But now the industry is changing faster than ever, and it can be hard to stay up with the trends. Inside of our Drake section, we include what to do from here. We share insights for job hunting links and all the same good stuff that the wyrmlings started on, but with the addition of more competitive positions, immigration within industry fields, and studio startup initiatives. You’re the lifeblood of the community, supporting both old and new levels of the industry, and we need to sustain that.
